As Facility Manager, Mr. Walter Laptew is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the Quezon Power (Philippines) Limited Co. (QPL) coal-fired plant. Under his supervision are operating, maintenance, engineering, coal handling, accounting, HR, purchasing, warehouse, and administrative personnel.
He has over 45 years of construction management experience in the construction of coal-fired power, combined cycle power, nuclear power and the biggest sulfur process plant. Mr. Laptew has successfully attained outstanding safety record, built effective workforce with cultural diversity, and managed projects successfully.
Prior to his stint at QPL, Mr. Laptew was Project Director of San Buenaventura Power Limited Co. from 2016-2019. He managed the Engineering and Procurement Contract, ensuring compliance of contract requirements within reasonable timeline and cost. He was serving as Warranty Manager for the project until his appointment as Facility Manager in November 2020.
He also held various managerial positions assigned to handle global projects while he was with URS Energy & Construction in New Jersey from 1985-2010.
His professional achievements include the Corporate Eagle Award for Construction Excellence in 2005 and 2007, Gas-Fired Project of the Year in 2005, and Wisconsin Builder “Top Project of 2005”. He is also an OSHA 30 certified safety practitioner.
